If you are lucky enough to get a ticket to London Freeze 2009, you can look forward to seeing some of the world’s very best skiers in action. Get up close and personal with Simon Dumont, Colby West, Jossi Wells and Jacob Wester… to name just a few!! So, with that in mind you can expect plenty of tricks, flips and a little bit of mayhem for good measure…
Maybe you’re going to take a peak at the snowboarders and what they can do. Well, this year’s snowboarders are yet to be announced so I’ll give you the best of last year’s line-up for an idea of what to expect. The 2008 snowboarders included Danny Kass, Scotty Lago, Antii Autti, Stefan Gimpl, Hampus Mos and Britain’s very own Dan Wakeham so there’s no excuse not to get yourself down there for London Freeze 2009. This year’s current line up (more to be added):
Orbital, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, Eagles of Death Metal, Friendly Fires, Chase & Status, Example, Fenech Soler, Steed Lord, Sweethead, Black Box Revelation, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Soft Toy Emergency…
Last year’s event saw Cypress Hill’s first appearance in the UK for four years, as well as some of the country’s hottest young bands including The Enemy and The Automatic. Sway brought some urban sounds with a hip-hop set while Cage the Elephant rocked it all the way from the USA. So, who will be tearing the stage up in 2009?
The organisers have produced a top line-up this year with some of the biggest names on the scene heading to London Freeze. Orbital continue to pack out venues up and down the country with their electronic sounds after 20 years while relative newbie Calvin Harris is fast becoming one of the UK’s most in-demand musicians, having worked with Kylie, Dizzee Rascal and Sophie Ellis Bextor. You could see them both with a season pass covering all three days.
Friday nighters will get to hear a DJ set from the Aussie/UK crossover band Pendulum. Expect plenty of drum ‘n’ bass with a hint of rock as the night comes to a fantastic end. Completing the weekend headliners will be American rockers Eagles of Death Metal, Mercury Prize nominated Friendly Fires and drum ‘n’ bass heavyweights Chase & Status plus a whole host of other bands, singers and artists from all musical backgrounds and styles.
