Weekly Snow News Roundup – 30/11/2009

An eventful week in the ski and snowboard world saw South Korea open its 10th ski area in the Gangwon province, Whistler witnessing record snowfall for this period in the ski season, and the Foreign Office launching a campaign to tackle alcohol misuse in ski resorts. Snow report – heavy snowfall in Niseko

So the snow reports in Europe are suggesting another great of skiing. Well, now it’s Japan’s turn for a big dump to start the 09/10 season. On the other side of the world, Niseko ski resort welcomed the season’s first skiers to its powder-filled pistes at the weekend.

London Freeze 2010

So, the last person has left and the lights have gone out on London Freeze 2009. Well, a good few weeks ago now so Battersea Power Station has returned to its depressing post-apocalyptic look. But don’t despair. In 11 months time we can do it all again at London Freeze 2010.

Snow report – Jasper joins the snow party

With North America boasting fantastic snowfall and great ski conditions at so many resorts, it was a matter of time before Jasper came to the party. With epic snowfall in Breckenridge and Whistler already reported, Jasper received a massive 85cm last week with 60cm in just 2 days.

Breckenridge Opening Day Photos

Breckenridge welcomed the arrival of the 09/10 ski season with a great opening day last week. Skiers and boarders were out in force to get the new ski season off to a great start. Breckenridge is celebrating its 150th anniversary and so there will be plenty to do whether you’re on or off the slopes.
