Chamonix

The planned first stage of the Freeride World Tour that was scheduled to take place in Sochi, Russia last week had to be postponed due to heavy snowfall and wind at the 2014 Olympic version.

So what was to have been the second stage in Chamonix this Saturday 30th January will now be the opening event of the 2010 event with the postponed event from Sochi, probably also to be staged soon afterwards.

The Freeride World Tour, now in its third year continues to align with iconic mountain resorts around the world; Sochi, Chamonix, Squaw Valley and Verbier.

Top American freeride skier JT Holmes is back competing and says, “Putting yourself up against the best skiers in the world four times during the year, you’re going to see where your strengths and weaknesses are. You’re going to be the best skier you possibly can, plus, the Freeride World Tour only chooses the best mountains.”

Freeride World Tour Ski World Champion Aurélien Ducroz, who was born and bred in Chamonix, will be the hometown favourite on the 400 metre, steep, east facing contest site “Pentes de l’Hôtel” at Brévent.
