A foot of fresh snow at Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain

Just as the Paralympic Games begin today in Vancouver this weekend, Cypress Mountain, host to freestyle and snowboarding events at the Winter Olympics last month which became infamous for a lack of snow, has re-opened thanks to a foot of fresh snow overnight.

Ironically there are no Paralympic events being held on Cypress Mountain but the general ski and boarding public can enjoy 36cm of fresh snow that has fallen in the past 24 hours, with more is on the way.

The Hours of Operations for both Alpine and Nordic skiing are 10am – 7pm daily with the Lions Express Quad Chair, Sky Chair and Easy Rider Quad Chair all open daily.

The Bell Power Park is open in its new location under Lions Express Chair on Upper Bowen. The Park Crew have built a new jump line, mini half pipe and a few new jib features.

The upper and lower nordic trails are open, as well as the snowshoe trails and the tubing park will open soon.

Cypress Mountain is now marketing itself as ‘British Columbia’s Only Gold Medal Mountain!’ – in terms of Canadian ski winners at the Vancouver Games.
