New Japan-themed freestyle event in Les 2 Alpes

12 April 2010 No Comment

Les 2 Alpes will stage the Kumi Yama snowsports event from 2nd to 4th July. Following in the footsteps of the Tahitian inspired Taravena Freestyle event, this new Japanese-style event welcomes professional Freestyle skiers and boarders from all over Europe, and Japan. Two competitions (slopestyle and superpipe) will be held over the three days.

Les 2 Alpes organises an internationally renowned snowpark that were launched 16 years ago in 1994, it continues to expand thanks to the help of professionals and huge investments. There are some 18 hectares open from 7.30am and 1pm daily for everyone from beginners to experts.

There are three different zones , a ski fun zone (on the northern section of the Dôme sud area with a boardercross, whoops, two beginner’s tables and a line of boxes), a pro zone (big air, tables, hips and many other modules: rails, containers, drums etc…) and an advanced zone.

There’s also an Olympic size super pipe (6.5 metres high) and 140m long with a relaxation area, known as the Coolzone, located above it and redesigned for 2010. A shred area will cover the length of the snowpark and there’ll be a freestyle training on a big air bag – a huge air mattress to avoid accidents.

The summer snow season runs from Wednesday 16th June to Saturday 28th August.
