Night skiing, snowmaking and a new lift for Falls Creek
Falls Creek ski resort in Australia has announced a host of new facilities and initiatives for the leading Australian resort’s upcoming 2010 season.
The province of Victoria’s largest alpine resort has expanded its night skiing to include Wombats Ramble. Night lights (using green power) have been installed along the 2.2km run. Falls Express will take guests to the top of the mountain where they’ll ski down to Quay West.
Falls Creek Ski Lifts has also continued an extensive program of upgrading and increasing its snowmaking capability with Wombats Ramble, the longest beginner-friendly ski trail at the resort, again the focus of this season’s improvements and is now completely covered with a top to bottom snowmaking system allowing easy access back to the village and provides beginners a longer period of skiing on Falls Creek’s favourite beginner run.
Young snow enthusiasts are getting an additional Austrian-made conveyor lift to enhance their snow experience. It is very similar to the resort’s existing Mouse Trap covered moving carpet which transports beginner skiers and boarders back to the top of the gentle terrain used by the Snowsport School Instructors who are well equipped to teach the growing number of kids who come to Falls Creek with their parents.
The new carpet with a ‘tunnel’ will be placed closest to the award winning Snowsports Centre, which specialises in 3-5 year old children who are supervised throughout half or full day sessions. Installing a new, covered carpet will provide more protection for the youngsters from direct UVA and UVB light as well as from snow on snowy days.
