New Arts Centre For Stowe

9 July 2010 No Comment

While most ski resorts will be expanding their snowmaking systems, adding a new lift or building new base lodging this winter, Stowe in Vermont (which has already done all that in the past few years) has announced they’ll be opening a new centre for the arts this December, The Spruce Peak Arts Center at Stowe.

The new centre, will, according to a statement from the resort, “… be the creative and cultural soul of the Alpine village. An eclectic range of events and exhibitions featuring established and emerging artists will inspire, educate and entertain residents, guests and the greater Stowe community.”

The Spruce Peak Arts Center will be one of the final parts of a ten year, $400m project to breathe new life in to the ski area at Stowe which has seen new lifts, an impressive new hotel, new base lodges and many other improvements at the famous Vermont resort.

The 420-seat Arts Center in the middle of Stowe Mountain Resort will accommodate a wide range of programs including music, dance, theatre, visual arts, conferences, and film.

The Arts Center will hold presenting programs including live performance and film, local and regional arts groups, workshops and residencies, and special event rentals. Complementing the existing ambiance of mountain charm, the Arts Center will provide another community gathering place.

The centre will be run by the Spruce Peak Arts Center Foundation, a non-profit organization.
