Vail Names Trail After Lindsey Vonn

Vail Resorts have honoured Olympic Champion Lindsey Vonn, who moved to the resort in the late 1990s and has now won what the resort describes as, ‘Vail’s first ever gold medal’ by renaming a trail on Vail Mountain after Vonn.

First Dutch Athlete To Win Olympic Medal On Snow Trained Indoors

The snowboarder Nicolien Sauerbreij made Dutch and Olympic history, when she became the first snow sports athlete from her country to win a medal in a snow discipline.
Sauerbreij’s medal was also the 100th for the Netherlands in Olympic history. 30 year old Sauerbreij won gold in the Ladies parallel giant slalom.

Canada Sets Record Gold Haul

Sunday’s gold in men’s hockey brings Canada’s gold medal count to fourteen – the highest of any country in any winter Olympics ever. The Soviet Union, in 1976, and Norway, in 2002, each won 13.
The previous record gold haul for a host nation was 10, jointly held by the US and Norway.
